How corporations can help with e-waste
Corporations are a large source of e-waste, and some of it is unable to be reused due to policies set by companies. On apple products, companies tend to set up MDM (Device management), which prevents the use of the product outside its network. When devices are replaced by companies, this is overlooked, and devices are left 'bricked' as they are unable to be setup for someone else, resulting in a 'brick'. If companies simply reset their devices, and removed MDM before sending them away, these devices would be able to be used by another user, instead of ending up sitting around collecting dust, waiting to be gutted for spare parts.Â
